Anyone with dyno-tested power mods to a 4.8is?

As the title states, considering a Dinan airbox or some other manufacturer's but the claims of 15+ hp gains from that and other things is questionable to say the least.

Experiences? I wouldn't mind doing an S1 package or similar but only if it actually improves the vehicle... I'm looking for proof via dyno charts.

My old 4.8is had a Dinan-S1 package. I went to a local Dyno Day a while back and here are the results:

Thanks for posting - I saw that graph a while back and it is definitely good info... but would like to compare it to stock. Do you have any 'before' dynos?

How about the butt dyno, noticeable increase in power and drivability?

No pre-numbers. I wish I had done a dyno before all the Dinan stuff went in.

It makes the car funner to drive, the new engine sounds are awesome. But realistically, the S1 package and looking for HP gains isn't worth it. It would be better to find a tuner shop in your area and see if they can do some custom turbos/SC for you.

I have a 4.6 and have most of the Dinan mods available. My butt dyno says there is more power and its just overall more responsive. In sport mode it seems I am always in the power band when driving through canyon roads.

I think most of the results are coming from the software for the engine and trans. The Air intake is nothing fancy, just a cone filter with a heat shield. I would go with the AFE stage 2 if I was to do it again. The Throttle body looks no different than the stock to me. I want to get the Dinan mufflers, but I am having a hard time swallowing the $1,600 price tag for 2 mufflers.

So I would get the AFE intake and Dinan software if I were you. X-pipe if you haven't done already.

G-POWER GmbH **X5 E70

???

I know this product is under the E70 category, but it's for an N62B48 motor. Is engine control different between the 04-06 4.8's and 07 on, or would this kit apply to the 4.8 E53's?

I haven't really had the need to know, but I'm curious now.

It blows me away that an X5M put down 510AWHP. I only hit 325AWHP with the old S/C impeller (that had 100K miles on it). Hopefully the new style Vortech impeller blade shows a fair gain. But man, those new M's are just insane. GL with your searches nom3rcy... hope to hear good news of power gains.

call me an idiot but if i spend the money on the dinan exhaust, would you think i would need to do an xpipe also? isnt xpipe only for louder noise and so that it gets connected straight to the engine without any extras? (noob question)

Can't help you out with any numbers or dyno charts, but I do have the S1 Dinan package on my 06' 4.8is. Personally, I think its great. There is noticeable power gain, esp off the line and throttle response is awesome. I'm already pushing 75k miles and has had no problems with the package. Dinan is reliable and I would recommend it. I think turbos and superchargers are unheard of for the 4.8is...unless someone can prove me wrong, I'd love to see that but never have.

I've got the S2 package in my 2001 4.4 - 5yrs & 80K now and I have not had any problems. Have done autocross at last year's Oktoberfest (yeah, that's me in Roundel). Just the instant throttle response off the line makes it worth it. Can't match M-numbers, but still it's a blast to drive. mileage is as good or better than stock. no dynos yet, but I'm still looking for a 4-wheel dyno. To me, it was the best mod I've done.

A little off topic, but I'm going to test and see if pulling the brake fluid level sensor (defeating DTC) will allow dyno for testing on NON-physically linked rollers (DynoJet). Using a Mustang dyno is no problem, but the shop in my area that had one folded.
