Weasel will become famous soon enough
Well the X5 was the first true sport performance oriented SUV/SAV, unless you consider the 5.0l ford explorers or 5.2/5.9l dodge durangos sport SUVs simply from the V8 power plant... BMW truely changed the game for the sports utility market, thus begining the sports activity market.

LOL... I am sorry to hear about your troubles man. I have seen your threads on repairs that you are under going. But I have had my fair share of things too. Nothing big, I have had both of my cats wear out, a rear control arm, water pump once, air idle adjuster, one MAF, 4 window regulators, CCV valve and hoses.

I am sure there is more but I can think of anything else. I will say this again without this website it would have been very expensive to maintain my X. But I have learned how to doing everything myself with your help and the bentlly manual.

Good art, X5Girl...thanks.

When I think back to buying our X in August '01, it was simply to replace my wife's
Jeep GC, which had run well and was in great shape, but had 90k miles due to her
long commute. I had never really been a BMW ista, and the only review I had read
was in Automobile mag, where Jean Lindamood had damned it with very faint praise.

But, the "sport suspension" and availability of a 5 spd manual, along with its cutting
edge looks (at the time), caught my eye. The rest unfolded, and 8 1/2 yrs later,
even the car non-intelligentsia guys I hang with, realize it "looks good", "looks new"
in terms of design, etc. Those same ol'geezers that have driven it are amazed at the
handling and braking and "feel". A fairly trend setting car/suv, in the past decade +, imo.
