I've got a 2002 X5 and I searched this and other forums for a while to see if anyone else had my same problem, but either I cant find it, or nobody has had this problem before. My passenger door will not lock/unlock and the window will not roll up or down as of a few days ago. I read about the actuators and the rubber glove trick, but I am beginning to think that it may be an electrical issue instead of a mechanical issue because both processes stopped working at the same time one day. There were also no noticable problems leading up to this (everything worked fine, then suddenly nothing worked). Anyone else have this problem or know of an electrical issue that may cause it? I'm not ruling out that it may be a freak occurance of both mechanical failures at the same time, but I just wanted to get some more opinions before pulling the door apart or taking it into a dealer. Thanks for everything. -Shawn |

I am having this identical problem on my front passenger door (2003 E53 with 71k miles). Just started today; the window doesn't work, the lock won't lock either with the key fob or the console switch and opening the door does not light it interior lights. This also makes my alarm system inoperable when opening the passenger front door. Also, I've lost all control of the passenger side mirror. The only thing that does work is the courtesy light on the inside of the door will illuminate when one of the other doors open.
Has anyone been able to repair this issue? If so, can you advise the fix? Thanks, Rick |
