So..nobody chipped the 4.4 and put air filter?

No reply regard the works I'd like to do on my 4.4!

First thing the sport air filter ..something should do !??

Than the electronic remapping .. for midle/low rpm something should do ?!
Than the sport exaust, I thing only for the sound that stock is not so exiting (my previous car was a grand cherokee 5.9 that had an amazing sound)!!

I hope some enprovement of performance will be ? Or not?

Waiting for some news.

Thanks

There are a few members here with intakes, from dinan to afe. And quite a few with the dinan engine software as well.

The more common exhaust mod is simply replacing the big resonator in the middle with an X-pipe for some more sound/flow without being too loud, but there are numerous exhaust options including bolt on options like eismann racing exhaust etc.

The remove of the big central resonator could be a good thing! I think itl will not do big noise. What exactly is possible to do? Arranging doing a streight pipe for example?

Thanks

eisenmann sport exhaust, remove resonator, afe intake. dinan has software through there bmw dealerships, just compare what you will get with each package to figure out what software will work best. fet ready to fork out 3000.00 for all those goodies and maybe a little extra change leftover

An aftermarket intake will look different, and may result in more intake noise (air roar) but won't affect engine power output much if at all.

A tuning chip on the 4.4 has very limited impact. If you do get some more torque or hp at one point on the power curve, it is most likely very minor, and is a tradeoff for less torque or power at a slightly different point on the curve.

An exhaust isn't likely to add much power, perhaps a few hp, but it is easy to create very different exhaut notes, as described above.

Most of us are just happy our X still works =) It has enough issues stock, I cant imagine what things would start to break once you start modding. (In a light hearted tone)
