4.6is fender flares on 3.0i

Noob here This is a terrific X5 site, you guys are awesome!

I love the wider stance of the 4.6is and wanted to get this on my 2001 3.0i, didn't realize I could do this until I discovered X5 world. I think all I would need is the rear fender flares since the front look the same to me. Am I correct or just seeing things?

Does anyone have experience with this retrofit, both front and rear? How DIY is it and where is the best place to buy the parts (I'm assuming only OEM would work).

You are seeing things!The 4.6is also has front fender flares.

Actually, you're not seeing things - the 4.6 and the 4.8 have flared wheel arches at the rear only. BMW makes a flared front wheel arch (a couple of guys here on the board have them both), but they are not standard on any X5.

Not my intention to misinform any one!All 4.6/4.8 I see have the flares at the front!At Realoem.com the front fender for the 4.6 also has a different part nr. from lesser X5s!Also at Bmwusa.com,there is no such option??

Just checked some pics of members 4.8is and did notice some without the flared front fender??????Then when they fit the RBs ,they install the flared fender!Like I said,all 4.6/4.8 I have seen on this part of the continent have the flares.....

I have noticed the same thing, some 4.6/4.8 have the front flares some do not. I went to my local dealership yesterday and noticed that none of their 4.8s had noticable flares in the front. I'm confused also as I have seen some X5world members with them. I wonder if the part number from RealOEM for the 4.6is front fender is actually the flared out version

Which goes to proof that DinanX5 is correct and that the Data on RealOem.com is insufficient!!!I am sure that if I call my dealer that he will confirm this and give me the correct the part nrs.

owning a 4.6is, i do not have the front flared fender flares, only on the rear.

Now it would be useful for someone with 4.6/4.8 who has done the flared front mod to but in and give us some more info..........................

4.8is comes only with the rear fender flares. However, when you install the aluminum running boards, you can have the front flares installed. Those who have the front flares on this board must be those who installed them when they install their alumunum running boards.
