If you just want to change the temp reading from C* to F*, do the following:
With the ignition key in position 1, press and hold the trip odometer reset button. While holding the button in, turn the key to position 0. This changes the temp display on the A/C and the exterior temp display. Not sure if that was it or you are still having other troubles? But I take it disconnecting the ground worked?
