I wish the glasses holder in the overhead console was big enough to hold anything but a pair of my old Rayban Aviators. My Maui Jim's are too big.

I have the sport seats in my '04. I have the thigh bolster on the passenger seat pulled forward one click, use the slot to hold my cell phone, Blackberry and the ear pieces of the glasses. Works fine when I'm by myself in the car, and everything is right at hand too.

It's mentioned in that linked thread. It's relatively new and you're likely to only find it as a special order thru your BMW dealer for now.
