RDS option is greyed out I think, I have clicked it but no change (02 X5 with Nav). I can use my AMG SL60 (UK import, like me) just fine, even gives me track info sometimes!
However I did find a 2010 Nav map very cheap here: UPDATE YOUR BMW @ CHEAPERTRACKS.COM They are based in Adelaide I think!?!

It depends on the radio module installed in your vehicle. I had a BM53 which gave basic RDS information, upgraded to BM54 & have more info as well as twin tuner (for TMC capability - but Australia doesn't support TMC yet on our models only on the E70 X5)
