ahh yes.. the yearly activities have begun... it's MOD SEASON!! Now that the pre-season is over... all of us will be looking up DIY articles and posting about our failed first attempts (and 2nd, and 3rds..) and some will just go straight to the pros to get them to put it on (chalk me up there).

First i need to get a few maintenance items out of the way - new air strut for my air ride leak on driver front side. Then - the other maint item might as well chalk it up as a MOD.. need new rear tires.. so swapping all 4 for summer tires - going back to Vredesteins.. loved them before.

Already purchased MODs that i will visit the pros for are:

reverse camera
stereo upgrade (amp purchased, need speakers)
sub install and amp.

has been sitting in my house for a year so hopefully this year i'll get to it. Even contemplating coating the 168 OEMs and putting them on and selling the 215s..

Rasta...check with member Li-X5, i believe he was selling a pretty serious sound system. And i vote for the powdercoated 168's

My mods are new OEM DVD unit for rear entertainment system. Module burnt out and monitors play in b&w.

Usually only use spacers for winter setup but kept the 30mm on rear with summers and love the look. Ordered 15mm for fronts.

Roundels are all black so gonna match with shadowline trim pieces in semi-gloss black. May also have the exhaust tips coated semi-gloss black.

Interesting, which rear entertainment system do you have and which module died on you?

I'd have to pull the exact part numbers but I have the floor mounted DVD unit (#4 below), with wireless headphones and headrest monitors. Took it in to dealer and they say "a diagnosis revealed a burnt out module within the DVD unit" is the culprit for the system playing in b&w. They suggested replacing the DVD unit.

I read through the system manual to troubleshoot and it made mention of the monitors playing in b&w if it runs for an extended period and gets too hot. The longest it's ever been used is the length of a feature film

yeah his sound system is a bit more than what i was looking for. i just want a subtle upgrade.

Yeah - LOVE the 215s though... just wondering if OEM will give me better ride... still 20s though.

Regarding backup camera type - not too sure - experimenting with one off ebay. bought the wireless kit from some seller, they sent me wired, then refunded me.. so got a FREE kit. with backup lines etc supposedly. been sitting for a year on it.

need new front brakes and rotors - suggestions welcome - OEM is fine, where can i get good deal?

Oh - also have TV setup that i haven't used and got all the bells and whistles for to use my ipod with. and got the right module for my invisions to be able to set it up to accept AV input from the module and not just the headrests.

Basically - audio video upgrade this spring/summer...

let the games begin!!

4.8is exhaust mufflers

Can't wait to install them. One tip has a nick in it from either the dealer catching it on the floor or wall or it happened during shipping. Not super noticeable, but now that it's there, I may grind off the welds and weld on a replacement tip.

What mods have you bought for your X this spring?
Has it been dyno proven that the 4.8 mufflers make any increase in horsepower at all?

As for currently done mods...painted calipers and rotor hats, front and rear. New CV boot, grease and all - that's a mod, right HID foglights, went w/ 6000k bulbs but I think I'm going to bump them down to 5000k. Few months back I removed the stock cd player and installed an AVIC F90BT, and I'm still wrapping up the fiberglassing work on the stock subwoofer enclosure. Hardwired and mounted radar detector between headliner and rearview mirror.

Future mods...ENTIRE cooling system replacement, pre-VANOS intake manifold swap, Powerchip software, Mercedes paddle shifters, complete LED interior and license plate lighting.

Purely my speculation, but I can only assume there is slightly better flow between the N62 4.4 and 4.8 exhaust systems. It would be interesting to know what performance improvements, if any, it has, but I just personally love the sound of it...and looks.
