The rear fenders extensions (the lower part) on the rear bumper were not easy to install. I had to drill holes (actually long shaped holes), where the tabs of the rear fender flares have to stick into. This was not easy, so you have to start with very tiny holes, hold the flare against it, and see which directions you need to go to. Took me couple of hours. Normally, in a real 4.6, these tabs are secured from the inside of the bumper with metal clips, but in order to put these on, you need to dismantle the whole rear bumper, and since these 2 bumpers skins (an inside and an outside part) are glued together (or plastic welded to be more exact), this is hardly impossible. So I added an small but long screw inside the wheel well, going through the fender flare, and into the bumper. It sits fine like this

Hello Hans,

I think you may be able to help me here:

I have a very similar setup to yours, i.e: I retrofitted the front and rear fender flares on my 2002 4.4, but i didn't do the flare extension on the rear bumper (the lower part), i always thought you have to change the whole rear bumper,

so my question is can you actually only buy this part (rear bumper fender flare extension) and install it on the rear bumper.

if yes, do you have the part number for this?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Ghani

[QUOTE=Hans_ACS]The rear fenders extensions (the lower part) on the rear bumper were not easy to install.

When I say that I am not quite sure about the flared fenders its because they may make the wheel too inwards!!!My wheels now are flush with the bodywork! You will notice that some of our 4.6/4.8 members install wheel spacers to push the wheel out!!What is your opinion since you have on yours????

4.8is exhaust installation coming later.Bought them in July but only had time to fit yesterday.

Good point about the wheels not sticking out enough. It makes the wheels look further inside yes, but on the other hand, I feel that the rear gets more dirty without the flares, because of the wide tires. Maybe a small spacer (half an inch or so) might be a good compromise.
