flex disc

hi, does anybody know how to tell if the flex disc(universal joint) is worn..couldn't see any major signs from looking at it on the car.. can they go out of shape or anything? its just that iv been reading a lot of posts regarding exact symptoms that i have which feels like drive train vibration, its very mild at around 40 mph and its seems to be a little worse or happen more when going uphill at a steady speed..thanks in advance

If you get underneath in good lighting, you should be able to see if they're due to be replaced. The were wore out on my previous X5 around 70k miles so i recently had them replaced on my current X5 when i hit 70k.

It's a wear and tear component...i didn't experience your symptoms though. First time around, it was spotted and replaced by dealer...this time around i had it replaced as preventative maintenance.

i highly doubt it. unless someone has messed with it than it is probably something else. I just changed mine and the symptoms persist. I will try and let u know what solves my problem, but keep us updated if you find the problem. change one piece at a time and drive so you can localize what side and what part it was.
