It's a wear and tear component...i didn't experience your symptoms though. First time around, it was spotted and replaced by dealer...this time around i had it replaced as preventative maintenance.

ah i see...i guess yours was changed before any symptoms appeared whilst driving your car for you to notice anything wrong...

I've replaced these in E30 and E36 they are pretty easy and cheap. Why not just try it. I've also replaced the center support bearing at the same time (in the exploded image about mid-driveshaft).
Have you inspected engine/transmission mounts?

I learned today that the front swaybar bushings have to be tightened once the x is loaded on the ground. If the reinforcement plate was taken off and the swaybar bushings are tightened on a lift than your going to have some vibration issues. Try that and see how it feels

I had vibration when the drivetrain was under load, like accelerating and going up hills. This is when the flex disk is subjected to a lot of torque. I've replaced in my E30 and two E36's and it was the issue in all. Still educating myself with the E53 though

i'll have a look at tomorrow..cheers mate, iv got to get it sorted, its really really annoying me, think im gonna change the flex disc anyway and see what happens..

could the flex disc look ok from looking at it but still be the issue.. i'm changing it anyway..so many storys on various sites with my exact symptoms pointing to the flex disc, cheers mate

Ahhh opps! I dont think i did that when i instaled my sways. Yeah i tighten them on a lift. Should i just get under the X and re-torque?
