How do I Fix This Speaker?

I've recently noticed that my passenger door speaker does not work well. I put my ear up to it and hear basically nothing, maybe a little buzz or part of whats playing. Anyway, how difficult is it to change this? Any DIY or suggestions on how i check the wires. I bet the door panel has to come off and it looks like the speaker housing is connected to the trim around the window, correct? is this difficult?

This link has a great video showing all the steps you need to do to change any speaker in your X (click the video tab). I did it myself, and the trickiest part to me was the removal of the door panels. Good luck

I've pulled the door apart a couple of times using the BSW instruction video, and just went gently (definitely more gently than he does in the video!) and nothing broke. Be careful with the wood trim. Go slow and lift a little bit all along the edge; don't pry one end out all at once. I used a metal screwdriver b/c I didn't have the trim tool and couldn't find one at the local parts stores!

My tweeter was hissing and clicking. The OE replacement worked well for about a month, then failed again (hissing and clicking). I'm guessing it is some other problem than just a failed speaker (amp?). Hope you have better luck on the replacement than I did.

Good luck

Wink

I did the Stage 1 BSW upgrade a year or so ago. It really improved the sound, but the most noticeable change to me was in the tweeters. If you find yours to be shot, it might be a good idea to upgrade them with something other than the stock replacement. Just my 2 cents
