I6 or V8

Morning all,

If money was not a hindrance, I6 or V8.

I want year 2006 as I have read way to many reviews of people having issues with 07's and newer.

V8 has more power and is more fun. If money (for purchase, maintenance and repairs) was not an issue, then why not a V8??

I bought an I6 simply as a result of talking with a few local independent mechanics, letting them know that I will be buying a used X5 with no warranty on it. They all suggested I6 would be cheaper to maintain and repair in the long run.

A good majority of auto transmission problems in the last 1.5 years that I have read about here have been related to V8 models. (Just an observation.)

V8 for fun and sound; I6 sound amazing too, the smoothest engine I have ever owned . I would guess that a V8 would be about 30% more expensive in every aspect.

If money is no object, there isn't really a downside to the V8. More power, better sound, similar gas mileage, etc. I love our 4.4i.

I don't think this poll makes any sense. If money were no object, one would almost always buy a V8. Why would you buy a I6 if you don't care about money?

Maybe the purchase price initially doesn't matter as much. If one still wants to think of the long run in maintenance costs, then this question makes perfect sense. Just think of the cost of tyres alone from I6 to V8
