Hello from a new owner...
Hello all. Just wanted to share my first experiences with my "new to me" 2001 X5 4.4
This is my 4th BMW. I have previously owned a 93 318i 5spd, an 87 535is auto and a 90 535i 5spd (still have). I purchased this X5 based solely on pictures (I know...crazy) and had it delivered to me in AL (it was in TX). I had plenty of expectations and I can honestly say that all of them have been met if not exceeded. This SAV is amazing, and in my opinion the best all around vehicle I have ever driven. It has 38,000 miles, colors are oxford green metallic with tan leather interior (dark wood trim). Options include: Sport package, heated seats, rear climate, premium package, comfort seats, Xenon, rear window shades, towing package, Nakamichi 6 disc slot load changer in glove box and pull out load floor in back. I guess the only options it doesnt have are nav, pdc and rear heated seats but Im sure Im missing something else. Within a few days of having it shipped, I packed up the family and we drove from AL to NY and back. round trip was approx 2400 miles. X5 was flawless. It was actually very comfortable to drive the long distances, and gas mileage was pretty good (averaged a hair under 20mpg). Well, just wanted to say hello to the board and I am sure I will be asking questions as I think I may want to tackle the widescreen nav install...or at least change out the nakamichi changer with an mp3 or ipod solution + sirus (if possible). Here is a picture of the X and one with the X and 535. David in AL (grining from ear to ear)
