Congrats on the new purchase!!! Don't get discouraged by all of the negative comments. I have an 01 3.0i with 121k miles and absolutely love it. Like any mechanical device, parts are subject to failure from wear and tear and we just replace/repair when necessary and move on. NO vehicle is immune to this and on message boards, you usually see those that are experiencing problems as they turn to them for insight but what about the numbers that are going down the road perfectly. Just enjoy every minute of driving your new toy... :-) In regards to the key fobs, they may just have needed to be charged as they charge when driving. It is good to alternate from time to time to keep both keys fully charged and the longer the trip you go on, the longer it will have a chance to fully charge....sounds like a good excuse for a road trip. Since you have an 03 with nav, the addition of Sirius is possible but there are a couple things that need to be checked or done to accomodate. You will need a radio module (BM53) with a newer software version that will support Sirius. I don't recall off the top of my head but the radio modules produced from a certain date in 2004 are compatible. I would check the production date and part number on your BM53 and do a little research to see if yours may possibly have been already changed under a warranty claim and may currently be compatible, if not there is actually a member on the bimmerboard.com (lyonsden1980) that has told me that he can actually update the software or you can purchase a newer BM53 that is already Sirius compatible. Additonally, you will need to check the sofware version of you navigation and update if the version displayed is pre-sirius support version. Just search on the forums on how to do this. You will then of course need the nav compatible Sirius receiver, Sirius antenna and if you have a CD changer you will need the Sirius to CDC daisy-chain cable. You can also purchase the correct mounting hardware but in X5 it is really not necessary and can alternately mount in the rear rack area. It sounds like alot of work but it is definitely doable and I have completed the upgrade on my 03 M3 and am very glad I went this route as I am a big fan of everything being seamlessly integrated. Hope this helps and good luck if you choose to go this route.
