How rare is 6 sp manual trans?

My buddy is selling his 2006 E53 that has the 6 speed manual transmission. How rare are these? He seems to think that he will receive a premium because they are hard to find. I am not so sure. There usually is a reason why something is rare, like limited demand. On the other hand, since you cannot get an E70 with a manual tranny, who knows whether there is pent up demand for a 2006 with a 6sp.

Don't manual transmission cars usually sell for less than automatic ones?

Our '01 has the older 5 spd manual...quite "rare", as in few of us knuckleheads
ordered the manual.

The 6 spd manual has the same 5 gear ratios, including the stump puller first
gear ratio; it does have a slightly od 6th for highway.

How "rare"? I have never seen any mention of 6 spd manual data anywhere on
the net, for X5s...

Hard to answer your friend's optimism; if a buyer wants the 6 spd, that buyer
will probably pursue that car, though no mention of mileage, condition, etc.
I doubt any willing buyer will pay any kind of "premium" for the manual trans.

Your friend will find most dlrs looking down their noses at his 6 spd, as most
interested "general" X buyers aren't aware an X could even be had with manual,
and most don't want it. My 50Cts...

Rare..But awesome. I have several customers with them. I get a kick out of it every time they come in.

I assume it is the 3.0. I don't think is was available for the 4.4i, 4.6is, or the 4.8i

I just purchased a 2006 6spd near Boston in Feb 2010.

they are hard to find and only are available with the 3.0

there maybe a premium since buyers (like me) will be specifically searching
for a manual. I took about 6 months before I found one I was happy with

as far as Cayennes are concerned only the base model and as of last year the GTS model offer manuals.

I would love it too!! 6spd on my 4.4i, especially after I just spent $3500.00 to rebuild my auto tranny. Got to love that ZF 5HP24 tranny.

I was looking for a 6 speed to swap into my 5 speed equipped car and there are about zero on car-part.com. Either there were very few made or none are making it to salvage yards.
