Re-paint bumper?

Well I am mad as hell right now. Our car was supposed to be ready today and it was. Well when my parents went to pick it up it was dirty. So they mad the wash it before the inspection. Well there was a large scratch on the bumper. The said that someone ran the battery down. So when the replaced it they must have scratched the car. Well they offered to re-paint the bumper. Is re-painting the bumper ok? I think I am going to demand the bumper be re-placed and then painted. What do you guys think?
David

I don't think re-painting the bumper should be a problem, David. The dealer should have the correct color. If the bumper itself is not damaged, let them paint it. It's not a big deal. I don't think there is a need to demand that they replace it.

Sorry to hear about that, though. It sucks! I'd be royall pissed at my dealer if they did that.

Repainting is fine -- really. You'll never know the difference, especially with just a scratch.

Ok, well my dealer is actually not the one that did it. A company called Magnum Collision did it. Well was really surprised as Magnum is the only BMW authorized repair center in the southeast. But they did do amazing work on the car. I mean the hail damage was horrific and they got every dent out with out replacing any panel. (Except the hood). When they painted the hood they did a color match to the current condition of the paint. I also needed to blow some steam off as I wanted to drive the X so bad. After being gone for a month it is like getting a new car.

My car got a whole new fender... They did a pretty good repaint job. You can tell up close that it's different. Maybe having a darker color will make it harder to tell? GL
