Unhappy Over revving & black smoke

My wife experienced over revving & a lot of black smoke coming out of our 3.0D. Any ideas what the problem could be. Its not misfueling. Been told it could be an injector, but do they all need changing or can one be changed?

With these symptons you should have the EML(engine management light) on!A Diagnostic should point you out in the specific error.Black smoke means that the ECU is getting information that the engine is either not getting enough air or getting too much fuel.
If its an injector, you will only need to replace the faulty one.
Because you say its not misfuelling, you may have a bad MAF.
It could be a number of things ,really, but I would start with checking the basics
1.Check Air-filter
2.Loose turbo to inlet manifold pipes.
3.Loose vac pipe
4.EGR.disconnect vac pipe to egr valve and block it(if car is fine ,you may have a faulty egr sensor or egr always opened.
5.Check that MAF,Fuel rail ,turbo sensors are all connected.

Post back your findings
