This darn Key.... (Help Please!?)

Okay this issue has been annoying me for the longest time. I cannot use my remote key after i used it once after driving. In other words, after I park the X, lock it, unlock it to get something i the car, i then have to manually lock the entire car, remote "Lock button" only works once after I drive the car. after its pressed once it wont lock again.

I tried reprogramming and it seems to be the same thing. The odd part of it all is, the button works because after I lock the X and unlock it, it wont RElock the car when i press the lock button but the interior lights do turn on... :/

Any ideas on what is going on with this issue?

Thanks!

If even the interior button doesn't relock it the problem may be the central locking relays, which are internal in the general module unfortunately. I'd maybe try disconnecting the battery overnight whenever you have the time for it, worth a try and can't help. (just think of it as restarting a windows computer or a wireless router when it acts up)

I have tried disconnecting the battery over night already, suggested by James and surprisingly it fixed my aftermarket navi (JVC) for quite sometime but lol... other then that the remote key still acts the same.

I can always unlock and lock it with the central lock button inside the X, its just that it cant be relocked with the remote key.

Its a little hard for me to describe what I am experiencing with it. Basically if i LOCK the X via remote key once and then I go ahead and unlock it, it does not want to lock the X via remote lock again, id have to manually turn the key in the X's drivers side door and it locks.

That is kinda odd... but judging from this:

It almost seems like the key is sending the unlock signal instead of the lock signal. I'm guessing this from the fact that the unlock button pressed when it is unlocked does turn on the interior lights... while the lock button should turn them off.

Maybe get it to the point where the lock button isn't working, lock it manually, then try pressing the lock button again. If that unlocks the X it confirms this guestimate and the problem is in the key itself.

Nope, odd but it keeps on turning on the interior lights when its unlocked and I hit the lock button or when its locked and i hit the lock button.

Well, I believe the normal operation mode turns on the interior lights with the unlock button, but not the lock button... in fact on mine the lock button instantly makes the lights fade out.

Reading this thread makes me wonder, "who's on first".

Good luck with your key…

Yep, Weasel is absolutely right, mine does that also, unlock "lights on", Lock "Lights off", if the lights are coming on when locking the doors something is wrong "upside down"...

It's weird that the lock button works the 1st time though

Well I don't think it has anything to do with it but can it be because mine is an 01? If not then where should I even start to fix this issue? I tried reprogramming already and the same thing happens, as far as another key is concerned... I had an older key that I did not touch in a long time but died so now im trying to give it power and seeing if it can be used again and programed.... If its not the keys what else can be the cause of this issue?

my guess would be the key, if the car is getting proper signals to open and close at least once all things can operate correctly.

if you lock, unlock, and then wait 10 minutes, can you lock again?

maybe if the battery in the remote is weak and having a hard time holding charge, its having a hard time charging up the capacitors that provide the energy for the signal pulse to be transmitted. or maybe the caps are on the way out too? good luck.
