In fact,as I mentioned before,I now get a lot of condensation smoke with my 4.8 mufflers(didnt realise this before on my 3.0D because of the oem downpipes)!Should this continue to bother me,my only option is to do what your are contemplating!This way you have the looks but your still being ecological.

One more thing!Make sure that you are present when they align the tips?Thus making sure they are done to your preference.

Make sure you get the oem rubber trim for around the cover holes!
These shouldnt cost more than 20 quid and they add a nice finishing touch.

what dimension tail pipe u suggest i shuld get to "tack to the back box!

Eg width of the oval? i assume something that fills as much of the space.
what about length? i gess the tip i get needs to be square at the back so it fits dead against the back box. as apposed to being a pipe at the back?

How long does yours take for the condensation to disappear?

Think the Ovals will look nicer! 170x90 is the size of my 4.8.The end tip is cut slanted at a 15 degree angle so that you dont get too much smoke on the rear of X5!
Have a look at the installation photos to see how far out my tips are!
I dont know what tips you are getting!I cant advise you further unless I know the dimensions of the tips!
Have you looked at buying just the 4.8 tips from BMW dealer?

Regarding how to fix the back of your tips to your back box,they will have to weld some brackets from the edges of the back box to the edges of your tips.The length of these brackets will determine how far out your tips will stick out!.

Have been searching through e-bay and found two companies who sell stainless steel exhaust kits for 3.0d X5. One is J.W. Racing (double twin rounds), the other is Blue Flame Exhausts (twin ovals) both in the UK.
Has anyone tried these systems

If you put "BMW X5 exhaust" in e-bay search it should come up with both. Pegbox7 on this thread also sells them, sent him a private message a couple of days ago but no reply.
