are you a pinoy too? where do you stay here in the phil? but i'm talking about not replacing the whole exhaust but adding some nice tips to the existing tips... so that a bit of the tips would show...

Hi Eddie,
Whats a pinoy?

If I understand your question correctly, you just want to add trims to you existing pointing down tailpipes!EASY!All you need to do is buy from your dealer the chrome trims for the 3.0i.

Interesting thread. I too have a 3.0D and never thought of just adding tips to the existing hidden pips.. Dont know if this would look good though. I`d like to see pictures of anybody who has done this.

Also, just been thinking along the lines of this. Could you not WELD or spot weld some pretty large tips to the flat end of the muffler that sits behind the removable panels in the bumper, obviously non functional but I just wonder what that would look like.

Adding tips to the existing downpipes would in my opinion look ridiculous unless one would weld them to face outwards! Now,that would be original and in character with the 3.0D!No more tending to pass off as 4.6 or 4.8?

Your idea to weld tips to the end of the mufflers was my other option before I fitted the 4.8's!Although not functional,it may not be a bad idea!It would look the same as if the 4.8 silencers were there, but with the added advantage that your exhaust gases would be flowing downwards.

I think that most people want the look and not really bothered so much about the function of it.
I think most people would agree that they want exposed tailpipes on the 3.0D without too much money/fuss and invaldating the warranty.

Youre dead right, dont want to replace the system, just want the pipes. I might have a look around to see what end pipes are available and try them for size etc. Then if I`m feeling brave I might get the welder out and spot weld them on to see what theyre like.

I`m rubbish at welding though, do I need anything special to weld on to the back box? Help!

Something like this might do, with the burnt tip, it will look realistic instead of a clean chrome one that obviously looks like it`s never had fumes through it?
