Weasel, are you saying slap everything but together, and tighten moderately, but dont tighten to lb-ft specs until you've put the car's full weight back on all four wheels?

Also, how important is it that they are tightened with a torque wrench?

Thanks in advance

going to speak to my bmw dealer . I prefer to let the do them in 10 minutes with the bmw tool .
I don`t want to lay on the ground with big sockets and bolts in a Heath Robinson sort of way .

found this interesting article via the home page .

Hey all it's been awhile and I hope everyone is well! Just saw this thread, and I think I'll need to switch to these bushings, among some other things. I'm experiencing a loud and quick "click" when in reverse, wheel turned to the right (backing out of a space). I know it isn't the CV joint/boot "slapping" both were replaced about 25k ago. The sounds seems to come from the front driver side.

Any thoughts?

Looks like I may be next in line with replacing these thrust arm bushings. Just spotted fluids leaking from the driver's side bushing today . No noises or shakes from the front end were noticed as of yet...so I may hold off on the replacement until some symptoms develop. I will definitely keep these Meyle HD bushings in mind comes replacement time. Thanks for the review on them, Weasel!

I just replaced all the front end bushings on my X last week. I used the meyle HD thrust arm bushings. The driving characteristics are great. The X feels tight and precise. But not to tightly sprung. I replaced control arms and all other bushings using lemfoerder and febi parts.

All my braking shimmy is now gone. However, I still have a clunk some times when I am backing up and turning the steering wheel to the right. It is like a pop feeling in the steering wheel and a clunk noise at the same time. I am wondering if my tie rod ends needed to be replaced as well. I visually inspected them and they look fine and there is no movement in them when I tried to jiggle them around. Any thoughts???

Double check the 6 bolts that attach your Support Plate to the Front subframe. These can become loose over time and cause a clunk when steering. Bolts 4 and nuts 5 as shown here: RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Frnt axle support,wishbone/tension strut

Thanks for the reminder. I checked those and they are all tight.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Could be the metal double joint in the steering shaft under the hood, try soaking it down with some good penetrating lube to see if it helps.

Can you show us where we would spray this? on realoem. Would it be good to lube it in general?
