Strange but when I happened to lean on it I heard a crack or crunching sound. It sounded like it was coming from underneath the black plastic cover of the tailgate.

Hhhmm ... maybe I just happened to snap it back into place?

I try not to put anything on it as I'm afraid to scratch it.

Got that sound too. That's the plastic middle piece on the tailgate which will crack, no question even though the tailgate itself can hold much more weight.

Wow you guys are really allergic to manuals.!? Page 36 in the 2006 manual.... tailgate weight limit 440 lbs. Page 129 Cargo area sliding load floor.... when extended 330lbs on the rear edge and 990 lbs distributed evenly across the entire surface.

I'm tipping in at 240lbs and have had people sitting on it with me as well. I looked in the book but never did find an exact number, so now it's good to know. I'm constantly using it as a workbench while back there, and having the sliding floor has come in quite handy. I've sat on the floor with it slid out, I wonder what it's weight limit is.

I read it, but also added the load floor info, along with accurate references. So there

Eh, mines pretty scratched up already... I use mine for hauling shit all the time. Try having your mother use your X to go get 20 stepping stones from home depot, it's scratched!

And James, Ali is a cool ass chick... I will not degrade her online! (but I will say as long as I have a face she has a place to sit! )

And that there my friends is in no way a degrading or derogatory statement, per my copy of "Idiot's Guide to Sexual Harassment."

Hey, it isn't degrading or derogatory, it's a compliment!
