Help?????

Ok, I have a 2001 3.0 44,000 mi great condition but tonight i noticed as i come to a complete stop and the truck comes to a steady idle(in drive or reverse) there is a vibrating noise coming from the driver door. Sounds like a back massager. I sprayed the hinges with a litttle wd 40 it helped a little but still there. If you put in P or N it doesnt do it only in D or R. I put in D with the Parking Brake on and got out and looked under the truck no noise there and it only does it when the door is shut... WHAT GIVES... NEED HELP it drives me nuts it is not a steady hum either it is up and down like you car is idling but mine is steady....

Check the tension of the door hinge mount studs. You might just find they are a little loose allowing transmission of a particular harmonic

As the vibration is under load (ie in gear) there is a different level of vibration coming from the engine and this can manifest itself in all sorts of weird ways.

As it is coming from the door, somethings worked loose so start with the mounts, then the latch, then internals and see how ya go.

Is that just a matter of tightening a visible bolt?

Check this......

then the bolts to the frame here and on the door

Then you have a door striker which will be covered by a black plastic plate where the door latches to the frame. remove the plate and check.....

It really is a process of elimination....... or take it to the dealer. They found my problem in two minutes (no charge either)
