Weird Issue few days ago. *UPDATE* Fuel Pump!
Hello again guys,
Few days ago it was very hot, so I decided to go to the mountains place with my friends, sit outside and eat there, It's like 30Miles away. Ok so, while we spend some time, It starts raining all of a sudden very, very hard... I go outside, start the car, put some heat and seat heater to get at least a little dry and park outside waiting for them to come out. After a minute of two, I put Gear in Drive and press the pedal, However it doesn't go forward, it doesn't even Rev up, Like it has no feeling whatsoever. I restart a few times, car starts and doesn't Rev up. Constant turning of starter kills my battery, after some asking I get jumpstart but still the same! I thought It was some Fuel problem and there is nothing to do, so I call the help. My friend called the tow (one that you put your car on top) and came to pick us up, 5 of us got in the car and leave the car in the service(it was closed, was 1AM) I was a little emberessed that my X had left us there, there were girls also, However we did have good time so fuck it! The next morning I go to my car, get jumpstart and it starts up just fine. Got it to GT1 and it says that Both post-cat sensors are messing up. I hadn't changed them just yet, but I do feel a little vibration on the Gas Pedal when I press it smoothly, 1.7-1.9k on the tachometer. Any Ideas? Why in the hell would it get wet? I didn't drive it in the big water, but when I got in, water was there a little higher then my sneaker(so I got all wet). 00 M62. No SES light or anything afterwords. Seems like the problem was the gas pedal got wet from the water leak. The drive by with throttle has a couple sensors in the gas pedal to tell it how far you pressed it etc. You need to get that water leak fixed asap and get the carpets out and dried! It may be worth bringing it in to the dealer to fix it and doing an insurance claim for the repairs as it can get expensive. (and yes, full coverage/comprehensive will cover issues like this)

Thanks Weasel, actually, I don't have Insurance, and I'm not in US. So labor prices for me are very low. However It couldn't be gas pedal problem as car would work in Idle for a little while and then die on me. The Gas pedal would make it die also.

I was guessing since you said it started and idled normally but was response-less to the throttle. If it were a fuel issue it would cough/bog when trying to rev it. But nonetheless water leaks can cause numerous random issues depending on what got wet, so it could be related. If you haven't done so already it may be a good idea to bring it to the shop and have it diagnosed.

So, Thanks, I also thought it was a Fuel problem, but, when I brought it to the shop, Computer told me that it was pre-cat O2 sensors malfanctuion, and indly said that it propobly got wet, and now I need new O2s. SES Light sometimes comes on and goes away as it whishes. And I feel some vibration on GAS Pedal propobly on 3rd gear by 2K when it's trying to go up to 2K slowly. Or could that be a Different problem?

What were the codes read? For some reason plenty of indys don't realize O2 sensor mixture faults are caused by fuel mixture and NOT the sensors themselves.

Sadly I Don't remember the codes, and they are cleared. I did refuel earlier that day with some unknown Station due to being in a far away hill. and there they were no stations except for that one, that clamed he had same 92 octane fuel as one of the suppliers. anyway, that could be the reason maybe? Thanks Weasel, guess I'll have too see again. But that vibration is indeed worying me, so I'm thinking to change those O2s if they throw code again after getting them reset.

So, UPDATE. Same thing happened again yesterday. So today I went and bought the damn O2 sensors, and replaced them. Car started, ran for about 50Miles, I was out of city, and it didn't die on me(whooh). but then, I was in a chilly quiet place with my buddy and some girls and then guess what? crank and crank. We took a cab and then I brought some gas thought it would help. Still it didn't go on, untill cops came by, saying what are you doing here on 3AM. I told them my car battery died, I checked and it started up. He tells me he has lucky feet or something like that and I walk away, go for few miles while pedaling it all the way (I felt it was sometimes going to die) and as soon as I took a turn it died on me.
Now tomorrow I will take it to indy, and I think it is either damn Fuel Pump, or Injecotrs. Either dirty of faulty. Hoping that THIS MUST BE IT, and I can fix it tomorrow once and for all. |
