window switch

I just replaced the plactic window holders on the regulator this morning. After it was all said and done I find that I may have a fulty driver window switch. The door will not lock using the main door lock switch, and the key fob will not lock the drivers door. Dose anyone know where I can pick up a new switch? BMWspecialist.com is out of stock. I have the swing mirrors.

If you didn't have this problem before I'd unplug the switch pack then plug it back in to do a power reset of it. Worth a try before buying a new switch/door module.

I tried the unplug and re-plug several times, even cleaned the pins, everthing but the drivers door lock works. Have to lock by inserting the key. Does anyone know what fuse to look for, I read there should be one in the front fuse box as well as the back?

You can dig around the wiring schematic through this link, but the door latches aren't an uncommon failure on a few BMW modules.

Hey you are in the situation that I just posted a few days ago. Resetting the main switch will solve the problem. In my case, I cleaned the plugs with electonic cleaning spray and left them to dry just like you did, and then put the passenger switch back on and main switch went next. Try again!! mine worked!!

I had a similar problem when replacing the actuators a while ago...

After i fitted the door panel and the switch, the door would not lock/unlock as you describe. In addition, the cluster did not register when the door was open. So no cabin light came on when opening the drivers door.

I took the switch out and cleaned the plugs like okun describes, and it started working again..!!
