Manufacturing flaw with Final Stage Resistor?

+ a couple on the oe part...my FSR went in '07, on my '01, just as my 'extended maintenance' was expiring. But the C+ dlr here in Asheville, charged me just the part cost, not the install, (which is not a timely do), and that replaced FSR part is still running here in mid 2014.

It could go boom! tomorrow, but the orig ran well, and the replacement has run even 'more well', both time and miles.

My rec'd: buy the real deal and DIY.

I own an E39 and E53...
I go to junk yard and pulled a few FSR from other BMWs such as E39, E46 etc.
I keep them as spare.
The junk yard charges $10/each.

Or you can buy a few used FSRs on ebay (make sure you buy used BMW parts, not aftermarket stuff!). A used BMW part is 10x better than aftermarket junk.
