Spare Wheel question with bbk

Hi,

Those of you who have installed a BBK kit what have you done regarding the spare wheel. (knock on wood something happens to the tire)
What size spare do you have? I recall that the 4.6is and 4.8is have 14" rotors correct? Anyone care to chime in what size the spare tire is (rim wise)
Is this the same size as per the 4.4i?

Cheers!

3.0 and 4.4 can run a 17" wheel with the correct offset.
4.6 can run an 18" wheel with the correct offset. 356 mm rotors up front (about 14") instead of 332 mm on the 4.4.

The spare on the 'is models is typically a mini-spare, not a full size spare. Most people I know that have 3.0 or 4.4 models and installed BBK or the same brakes from an 'is usually sell their spare.

Getting a mini spare isn't easy these days. BMW will sell you the rim without the tire, then you have to find the tire. Only a few were spec'd for that car (size, load, etc) and at least the Continental and Dunlop's are no longer being made.

BTW, this is a pic of 4.8is spare. It accommodates the big front brakes.

It really depends on the size of the brake calipers you are installing. The rotor diameter isn't the issue as much as the size of the caliper. Sure, a larger rotor moves the caliper out closer to the wheel, but it is the caliper that hits the wheel, not the rotor. The space saver spare that you are asking about may or may not fit over the brake caliper you are considering purchasing.

I've already purchased the kit awile back, but didn't think about the spare (my fault) I guess I will have to check if it clears the caliper. What other options do I have, maybe find a stock 19" rim but the tire has to be non-directional right?

Here is what I found.
There's a factory 19" x 5" compact alloy spare - part number 36116756858.
The appropriate tire size is 155/80-19, part number 36120418846

Then there is one 18" x 5" part number 36116750316
What size tire is this one ? part number?

I think the main thing is the caliper clearance like JCL said, the width of 5" is what might cause the problem? correct or will it clear?

Ive read that the wheel is N/A in north america, only germany like you said.
Killcrap, what size did you go with? Did you get the wheel cause you upgraded your brakes?

Thanks for your help guys!

Here are the dimentions of the caliper
