I do not have the nav in my X5 and I have been looking for some time for the best solution to add navigation capability to it. I know there are very good portable units from Garmin and Magellan but I would like the install to look neat, like if it was part of the car. That is why I was thinking about maybe the Pionner but based on what I have read it is not worth the price. I will keep studying a possible neat integration of one of these portable units then.

don't do anything yet. i'm working on a solution for those of us (me) unhappy with the BMW Nav that uses a car pc and will support many things... including complete OEM integration AND 3-D Nav. using co-pilot.

we'll make it so its TOUCHSCREEN driven and plug and play for you with ibus interface....

ummm that would because the lawmakers decided

"For every one that is looking for a bypass for the pioneer models AVIC N2 and d1 you dont need one. After install and the unit is set up and navi is programed just put a toggle switch on the VSS wire this is the pink wire also know as speed sense. The memory in the unit will remember every thing in it. Also dont forget to ground the green brake wire. You will still get the message at the begining saying not to veiw just hit ok it will work fine.
Yes this does stop your speedo and g rating from working in the diagnostic display but you are watching a dvd and when you need the display just turn it back on. Also it does impare your navi (it will try to do every thing by antenna)but like i said just turn it back on when you need the navi option."

We can't drive and have a movie on at the same time...you use a switch so that if you get pulled over you can disable it quickly...if your vehicle is search and they discover you can view and drive you will be cited...Drex, I detect a very strong feeling about this topic from you....my toggle is very tastefully done and out of sight unless you know where to look.

co-pilot works nice , i have it install on my car-pc and it has lots of nice features, but as we all know nothing is perfect, when driving in manhattan the gps sometimes has a hard time locking in to the satellite, un like the car nav that uses the car electronics to keep guiding you......

roc3b-

i agree. the lawmakers did this to protect us from.......????

i ride a bike(motorcycle). i would rather have someone kinda watching/listening TV than talking on a cell phone any day.

i have my NAV/DVD unlocked and have driven by many a LEO and no one ever said bunk, with a movie playing....... not sure where you live, but most LEOs unless they are out to really bugger you will say anything...

i am sure your switch is hidden and done very nicely. there are solutions to make the switch 'invisible' in case people are interested...
