Yet another issue. Need advice

So I was installing Angel Eyes Wiring harness that I bought from EAS. I connect and T'd properly. I got the DIY from this link:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...-2003-x5s.html

After getting everything connect, I then connected the angels eyes to the harness and I could not get them to work. That was issue #1. After telling myself, I'll get some advice online and see what happens and leave the work off for tomorrow. I then started the car and to my surprise, it would not turn on. It kept cranking and cranking and could not get it to turn over. Now I was like man, I fucked up. Because in order for me to get the angel eyes to work, I had to splice into the ignition wire on the ECU harness. But I didn't do any major harm to the wire but T'd a T onto it. That was issue #2.

#1: Could not get the angels eyes to light up.
#2: X5 cranks but cannot get itself to start.

Here's some pics of the work and a video of the truck trying to start. Please give me some advice on what it could be. I'm more worried about the car not being able to start then getting the AE to work.

Thanks again.

First, I want to say that I'm not very good when it comes to electrical stuff. Having said that ...

What I would do is remove connections (from the EAS harness) one by one to try and isolate the cause of issue #2 (X won't start). I'd start at the ECU connection.

Now, if you remove all connections and the X still won't start ...

Once you resolve issue #2 then you can move onto issue #1.

Yeah me too I'm not too good with electrical, but good with following instructions. I still don't know where I went wrong. I haven't been under the hood since the day I worked on it. It's still in my driveway, stuck.

Let's see if someone can answer this.

In one individual wire, there are copper coils inside. Let's say it has 10 copper coils and while splicing with a T, 2 of those copper wire are broken apart. Would that cause something to not get enough voltage through? That's the only thing I can come up with. The ECU cannot give enough voltage to the ignition causing it to not be able to start.

I unhook the splice to the ignition ECU wire and still no power. Hopefully someone can enlighten me in this topic.

Twin, I will unplug the harness and see what happens. If I get some time tomorrow then I will work on it manana. Thanks again. I'll check back soon. Busy busy summer working.

I really don't know the answer to the 2 broken strands but I would think that's not the problem. When I've wired other things I sometimes break a few strands and I've never had that problem.

I think if you remove the EAS harness (I assume that's all the new wiring introduced), then the problem is obviously elsewhere.

The problem could have been introduced during intallation of the EAS harness. Maybe you accidentally disconnected/cut/broke a wire while trying to make a connection. Again not too good on reading wiring diagrams and such but maybe its not getting enough fuel (fuel pump?) or a spark (wiring to the coils?).

Here's a thought. Have you looked at all your fuses? Maybe its something as simple as that.

You ARE working on electrical not mechanical. Good luck!

did you call EAS? I was about to order these angel eyes for my 2001. The scary part is I'm even more electronically clueless than you. Hope you get someone to track down what went wrong..., soon.

Why would you want to splice into the ecu? If it was just for a switched live I'd go for something different.Keep well away from the ECU !!! Theres a good chance the ecu has been damaged, but i hope not

Because thats what the instructions said and a few members have done the steps and it came out well. I'll check a few things. I'm pretty sure harness is not hooked up to any wires when I started it. It was only connected to power and ground and everything else was disconnected. I'll completely remove the whole thing and see what happens.

Hmm anti theft. Makes me think. It does sound like the truck isnt giving fuel to start the ignition. How exactly does anti theft works on these vehicles? And how would I turn it off?
