Do BMW accessories hold any value?

I'm thinking about getting rid of the X. She's been fun, but just like a fun and wild woman, she's hitting my wallet too. I may trade her in on a 2010 Ford Supercrew Lariat.

With that in mind, I know the dealer will not give me anything on the accessories I have installed on her. Is there still a marker for BMW style 132 wheels with Michelin Latitude tires (approix 7500 miles on tires), OEM 2004+ sport steering with with sport airbag, and OEM Sirius satellite radio? I also have the Invision DVD headrest (two monitors) system. Only used for three weeks.

I wonder if these items are still desirable?

Cheers,
Dan

If you get rid of the 132's, your X still needs tires and wheels. The dealer probably won't give you anything for accessories but if you sell any items, you have to replace it with something. But before that, you need to see if it's worth your time and effort to do it. Most of the time, the answer is no. Just sell it as is and move on. Some people who have done engine mods return the motors etc to stock and sell the pieces. Good luck.

I have the stock 17's sitting in my shed. Fortunately, they have new tires on them. I also have the original wheel w/airbag as well.

ya man you'll sell it. those wheels are my favorite on the E53, and the wheel/airbag is always in demand. Check out ebay you'll see. People are getting some nice change for those items.

Definitely ditch the headrests, dealer will not give you nearly what they're worth private party, and removing them won't devalue what the vehicle is going to re-sell for.

Yeah, take it back to stock form and take out any/all extras that you put on it before trading it in. You may be able to get some money out of a private buyer, but with trading in, you will lose money you spent on the extras.

And I would be interested in the steering wheel and air-bag if the price and condition is right.

Ok, so here's a thread bumper...Looks like the X5 will be sacrificed for a 2012 Buick Enclave (wife's potential new ride). If she decides that she really wants it, I'll take off what OEM accessories I had put on. Don't really know what theses items are going for.

So here's the list

Invision DVD headrest system (wiring installed, but never really used the headrest for longer than three weeks, since the headrest was giving me neck problems), so thse two headrests are basically new)

OEM 19 inch style 132 wheels with Michelin tires (approx 20k miles on tires). One wheel has slight road rash.

OEM 2004+ sport steering wheel with airbag

OEM Sirius satellite radio with antenna and necessary wiring

And for the 2004 guys, a newer Bluetooth module

I also have 4 factory window regulaters new in box. With my 2001 330i, I had to replace all 4 regulators. So, to play it safe, I bought all 4 window regulators for the X5.

Dan

Hate to let go of the X, but with a new baby on board and 4 year old, there's no room in the back seat anymore.
