Disable the (DTC) Dynamic traction Control off?
Does anyone know how to disable the Dynamic traction control? the traction control is too sensitive and would not allow to let the wheel spin at all. anyone like to share their experiences with the DTC would greatly appreciate.

Holding down the 'DSC' button for 20 sec will do it. It intially turns the DSC off then switches the DTC off.
It re-sets itself on when you turn the engine off and re-start.

Just pushing the DSC/DTC button raises the threshold for DTC (and turns DSC off) but holding the button down never did anything on mine. I think this is an urban legend. Lots of threads on this where different members tried it years ago.

........when off by holding it down, it is recorded in the PC - for warranty reasons . If not mistaken [for example on E46], when holding it even longer will turn off the ABS as well !

Wow, I thought all BMW had the option to disable everything but ABS. Not being able to fully deactivate DTC on a e53 X5 is a bummer. Especially if you take it to the sand dunes. Brakes are going to get cooked.

When pressing the button - DSC gives you more room but is not off - yellow light in the dash. When holding the button down a longer time the yellow light in the dash disappears - that is all. Cars behavior as when you press the button short.
All I wrote is on mine..... maybe you test it by yourself. GL, Helmuth |
