Where are you located? USA? So it isn't a diesel as the one above is?

What messages are on the dash?

Could be bad fuel if it is immediately after refueling, or any number of other things. First step in the diagnosis is to have the codes read.

Sorry, mine is 01 X5 3.0i. There are no messages, no lights on the dash. She just refilled it at the same station, the same octane rating as she usually does but weird thing happened. She also said the fuel gauge did not turn to the F position. May have to run the code when I get home. Thanks JCL.

WEIRD! Oddly enough we had 3 or 4 cars come in today with bad gas/water in the gas... don't think they could have all come from the same station, hope it isn't some big widespread problem!

I hope that what it is. I floored the gas pedal, the RPM goes all the way to 6000 but the odometer slowly creeping up from 20 to 40 to 50. It feels like no pressure in the chamber to push the car goes faster. It gets to the speed limits eventually but it takes longer time and higher RPM than usual. It shows no code when I connected the OBM reader. Any other ideas?

Worth bringing to a shop and getting a fuel sample. (unless you can get the sample yourself)
