Navigation Update, no clue where to start. (FROM NAV FORUM)

Hello All,

I have a 2006 X5 4.4, my nav is SW4-1/60, I am not sure which version this is.
the nav disk is 2005.2 North America. The navigation is extremely slow and the nav disk is out of date. Could someone point me in the right direction as to how i would update the OS on the nav. What version should i put on and how do I do it myself. Also are the disks available somewhere to download.

Thanks for all the help.

Robert

2nd Sticky in Navigation Forum

I followed these directions and had no problems updating my nav unit.

Download file from: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

"Current version is 4-1/100

Updating your nav is highly recommended and easy to do.

Download the V31 or V32 image (both contain 4-1/100 Mk4 software)

Burn with a CD image buring program - I recommend ImgBurn (The Official ImgBurn Website).

Eject map CD
Turn ign on (but leave engine off)
Insert OS CD
Follow onscreen instructions - do NOT turn off ign during update process!
Remove CD when it is ejected and click OK to reboot
Voila!"

Void... will this update work in my '01? Which I'm certain was never ever updated. Thanks Jax

Void,

Do i need to do anything to the image file, or burn it as is?

Burn Image, not copy.

Burn as is. However, you must burn the image file, not drag and burn. I am on a Mac with Windows 7 running on Fusion. I thought I would experience problems. But, I followed the directions as posted on the Sticky and it worked just fine. There is other burning software available, but I went ahead and used Image Burn as the post suggested.

Ok Got it. I extracted the image file from the .RAR file and will burn it at lowest speed as to a CD-R. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Do I need a new Nav disk for the map. Or will my 2005-2 still work?

2009 Nav Disk

I have the 2009 Nav Disk. They are very cheap, now that the 2010 is available. A number of Xoutpost members have stated that they were not happy with the 2010 version, as BMW has switched to a new vendor. Check the classifieds on this website. I recall someone was selling their 2009 version. Of course, ebay probably has plenty, too.
