Trailer Dongle
Installed the OEM trailer hitch about 2 weeks ago and I finally had a trailer available to test the electrical....and it didn't work. I checked my connection by the spare and that was fine, also checked to see if I got voltage with my multimeter, which I did.
I checked with the dongle in and I got nothing.... I inspected the dongle some more and noticed a pin was pushed in. I didn't know if this was by design or not so I unscrewed it and took it apart. Looks like I have a defective unit, the pin for the white wire was pushed into the dongle housing. I might be able to superglue/caulk/wedge/jimmy the pin in place for my weekend trip, but I think I'll need to get a replacement. Has anyone had to purchase one of these and/or are the dongles the same for other vehicles? I may try and request a replacement from Hunterdon BMW (where I purchased the hitch via ebay) Thanks
