I did the soapy water test and could not see an air escaping. I did find a bushing that is completely toast. I dont know if this could contribute to the issue?

A bad bushing will affect the front suspension. If the bad bushing is on the same side of the suspension that is lower then that might be the gremlin. Bad bushings will sometimes make weird sounds. I've had my share of bad bushings, an indy told me it was my steering rack, he was totally wrong. I replaced the bushings myself problem corrected.

I definitely have one bad bushing on the left side. It looks like it is the lower control arm. This has got me thinking of doing an entire overhaul of the front end bushings. However, the X only has 55,000 miles. The front left air strut has collapsed entirely which led me to believe the air strut has a leak. However, it hasn't lowered that much in the past week. It is only a little under half an inch lower than the right side.
