CD Changer wiring.. Is it in ALL 2005 X5's?
I was about to buy a DICE kit with Radio connection for my 05 X5 as I only have the Business CD unit/radio (No NAV and No CD Changer). I was informed by the sellar and someone from the DICE manufacturer that ALL X5's have the CD Changer cables installed, even if you dont have a CD Changer and that that DICE kit that works with the CD Changer connections would be better (to provide 90% of the functionality). I have even seen a youtube video that shows an X5 (not sure what year) without a CD Changer and the wires/connectors for the CD Changer are just tucked below with the other cables around where the Changer would fit. I have spent about 20 minutes looking around for the cables, and I cannot find mine at all. Which leads me to the following questions. 1) Do all 05 X5's have the CD Changer wiring loom installed, even though there is no CD Changer? 2) If so, what should I be removing to find the cables? For instance, there seems to be some lose cables under the plastic part that holds the tow hitch. Should i remove that plastic and search? I dont want to spend hours pulling everything apart from rear to find these cables if they actually DONT exist. If someone can confirm they should be there and if so, what panels (plastic parts) might they be hiding under that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rob |

I know all in the US are pre-wired, but not sure about the rest of the world's markets. If the wiring is there it may be tucked away in a loom rather than hanging out in the open. Look for any sections of wiring wrapped up in a black foam cloth type stuff.

The connectors in my car were under the load floor beneath the left compartment area. They were zip tied to other wires. So i would suggest lifting up the load floor and looking around the left compartment area for two loose black plugs. They're sort of tiny plugs.

I have a piece of that material already lying there by itself, no cables in it... I will have to have a good look around... I'll take some photos myself when (IF) i find them for all to share. Rob |

Ok... I think I've found them.
Can someone please verify these are the cables? I found them hidden (tucked away) behind the panel. Sorry, one photo blurry.. ![]()

Yep, those definitely look like them. The big squarish one is the 6-pin, and the flatter one is the 3-pin.
