Another new (to me) '05 E53 4.8is

Finally got round to posting pictures of my new acquisition. '05 E53 4.8is in LeMans Blue with black leather and dark poplar wood, every possible option except the sliding cargo floor. Picked her up in Salt Lake with about 57,000 miles on the clock. Driven about 2000 miles in the last 3 months and absolutely love the X5. So far I've had the factory hitch installed for towing all the toys around. Last picture is towing my Honda Aquatrax PWC. Tinted the driver and pass windows to match the rears and installed an aux cable for hooking up the iPhone/iPod.

Thanks everyone for your posts and DIY guides, they have been a huge help so far.

Congratulations. That's a nice color combo. She appears to be in great shape. Enjoy.

Thanks. The driver side one has a bit, passenger is clear and looks good. I am a bit nervous to try a headlight restoration kit and make it worse than it is already.

IMO you got nothing to loose.. Just dont buy mothers kit. it DID remove all yellowing on the light but a impression of the "fade" was left. I reccomend using large -paper like- pads of sand paper.. as I only had a cute lil' 2x2 pad of each grit. The light should dissapear in a fog of sanding.

My only headsup to you is once you resurface use Lamin-x to preserve them and prevent it from comming back.

instead of using sand paper, try starting with a ultra cut compound, and slowly move up to a less heavy compound, if that doesnt work then i'd go with the sand paper.

mine had small signs of yellowing, and i did that and it worked great
