New Member Saying Hello

I am so glad that I found this sight. I found you guys this August just after I bought my first BMW. 2001? (Oct 2000) X5 Sapphire Black, Black leather int., sat. nav., cd, 4.4, sunroof, tinted windows. I have already done some simple repairs. First was the power window regulator (piece of cake) Thx, Next was the pixel cluster fix. Got a bit careless and scratched the spedo . But I love the X5. I have a great big, stupid grin on my face every time I drive it.
I've never participated in a forum group before, but since I have done some mods and have such great fun driving the X5, I just had to say Hi!

Some Q's
Is my X5 (Oct 2000) a 2000 or a 2001?
I moved to Italy from the US a few years ago and was wondering if any other members on this site are in Italy?? I'm in Trento.
Since it just started snowing today, I think it is time to get snow tires on the BIG WHEEL. Also do I really need snow tires with a 4X4?? Can I keep my 19" or should I buy aftermarket 17" dedicated for snow?

Hope everyone had a great turkey day, mine will be Sat night.

Here is a pic of the BIG WHEEL me my wife and Hoopie. Thanks again for all your support and help.

Hallo Hoopie!
Here is the other italian member! I'm from Bassano del Grappa, around 70Km. from Trento. I'm happy to see other italian people in this forum.
Just yesterday, with the first snow, I put the 17' with Dunlop winter tires. It's the second year I use this tires, they're very good. I have never test my X on the snow without winter tires. I hear that many people is desperate with the 19' and the normal tires.
Ah, my X5 is a 2003 pre-facelift 3.0d as usually in Italy. I love the 4.4i but the fuel consumption are very high. Maybe in the future I will buy it.
Bye

Congrats on your new X, and :welcome: to X5world

An October 2000 build X5 would be considered a 2001 here in the U.S. Different countries can and do have different rules when it comes to titling a vehicle, though, with some showing the year of the vehicle on the title as the year in which it was sold, not when it was built. In other words, you could have 2 vehicles built on the same day but if one sold in December and the other sold a month later in January then they could be titled as two different years. I'm note sure about how Italy does their title designations

Great looking X5!!!

Hoopie, welcome to X5world and we're all glad you found us here. There are a bunch a fantastic people on this forum and from all over the globe.

If it snow where you live, definitely get set of 17" dedicated snow tires and wheels and save your 19s for the other seasons. That's the best way to go. Again enjoy your fairly new ride!
