Pairing not functioning - help required

I have an '05 3.0d with SatNav and have a problem with BT in that it has stopped working, having been working fine for the last 3 years.

The exact fault is I can no longer pair any phones as the pairing button under the arm rest doesn't appear to function, this is a process I've done many times so it shouldn't be user error

The ULF is 13th gen that I purchased from BimmerNav in 2007, phone is probably not relevant as I can't get my X5 to the phone pairing message in any case.

What I have done so far to troubleshoot:

1. Checked button connection under armrest, it is connected.
2. Checked connections to ULF module, it is connected.
3. Performed a battery-reset (1 hour plus) - no change
4. Performed a ULF reset (10 minutes plus) - no change

The voice recognition is working, so does this rule out any wiring/connection issue completely? Also as the voice recognition is working does this suggest the ULF is functioning correctly?

I've read about every forum post on pairing problems and how to troubleshoot and I'm fresh out of ideas and talent.

Does anyone have anything they could recommend before I get my local BMW independent to take a look?

Many thanks in advance.

As I recall ....you can only pair a specific number of phones (3 or 5) then you have to remove them in order to pair new ones. Check your pairing manual.

Cheers,
