noise when slowing down

Been noticing slight honing noise while slowing down on highway from 60 mph and less.. it disappears away as the rpm lowers below 1500rpm.

Not sure where its coming, front or back but its like a hone - no vibration just a light hone. Is this anything severe? My ride is a 06 4.4i with 70K miles CPO.

thanks for any ideas.

Whats the condition of your tires. Worn tires or cupping tires due to suspension issue will induce this hone noise.

Could be several other things, but would start there.

tires are flawless, no cupping or any kind of sign of damage, etc.
They have maybe about 5K miles on them, Michelin MX4V.

It drives great, no vibration, etc.

Maybe a wheel bearing or worn gears in tranny or diffs. Probably a wheel bearing.

Are you braking when slowing down or just letting off the accelerator?
