Maybe try toggling your DIP switches?

Yep, gone through all DIP switch settings. All the different settings acted the same.

Thanks,
Rob

It looks like thumbs up for anything other than a NANO. Even though DICE state the NANO is 100% compatible. Ive proven that's not the case.

Although, I still would like to know if you can keep the classic connected constantly, even when it sleeps/hibernates and that the DICE never freezes in this configuration.
Yes! my iPod classic 160GB sleeps and needs to be restarted or rebooted sometimes (6 out of 10 times) - specially when I've pressed too many buttons / commands from the MID and steering wheel buttons or coming from hibernation. The system seem to get overwhelmed and freezes (referring to my iPod classic 160GB and NOT the DICE).

But as I said it works 100% error free on a GEN5 iPod Video 60GB.

Do keep in mind that if the DIP switches are changed, a battery reset is recommended - these cannot be switched "on the fly".

Have mine now since about 2 months - never any problem. Mounting was done in half an hour - was a little bit tricky because all docs I had were from the trunk cabling - but after I have found out that it has to be connected to the backside of the radio it was an easy task.

Would buy it again

Greetings, Helmuth

Yes, I understand this. I do reset as per manual.

I dont get iPod freezing, I get the DICE unit freezing.. if it was the iPod, then I wouldnt care too much about that.

Thanks,
Rob

It really does look that the later Gen versions work, and the early ones, although DICE say are compatible, dont. I have managed to borrow a Gen1 iPod Touch with the correct firmware. The dice does the same. Locks up after first use. IPod can be used fine.. That isnt locked up.

it never "married" well to my 2001 - had to switch to 'manual' and could only select things thru the ipod itself - and working with the nav also changed the ipod selection/playlist - very irritating - now removed due to Alpine INA-W900BT install (CD, ipod, nav, HD radio, bluetooth, AM/FM) - all work great, but no more OBC - there is always a tradeoff with early model X5s..., bummer!

I have the dice I-BMW-T/5V Silver line pro and it works great in one of my trucks but cant get it working at all in the other one.
Both trucks are 2002 4.6is with Nav.
1) I was not able to get the ipod to charge ever and still have not
2) Left the Dice module and ipod connected for several hours and still nothing
3) I have disconnected and reconnected the Dice module several times with and with out moving the dip switches and still nothing
4) I was looking at there install manual and noticed that they want the brown wire on the car 3 pin to be at one of the outside pins. This is correct on my truck how ever the brown wire on there 3 pin wire is in the middle?????? I have a Dice ipod kit in my other BMW X5 truck and was thinking of using my Dice module on this BMW X5 to see weather the module is the problem how ever i don't want to get stuck with 2 broken Dice modules if there is some bad wiring. I will hold off on this idea for now.
Bad dice module????
