Tried to open the door from the inside but the door handle seems broken so had to jump over to the paasenger side to get out of my car. Tried to open the driver side door from outside, and works.

Realoem says 51218243615 for front left side. in any rate I bought mine from dealer cause I didn't want to wait and the part guy says it's very common and gave me the right one. #1 will cause problem even when you try to open from inside, IMHO.

Which part would give an intermittent failure to open from outside and inside. Every once in a while someone in the back cant get out and when I go to open it for them I cant get it open from the outside either.

FYI, now is the perfect time to replace the worn doorskin grip (#4.) and to also add hi-temp glue (Craftsman glue gun) to the inside of the doorskins if the factory glue is starting to split.

Once you take the doorskin off, you'll see how some plastic components inside are glued to the inside of the doorskin. Over time, the glue begins to crack and you begin to loose that "solid" feeling as rattles start to be heard.

I bought:

Craftsman 40 Watt high temp glue gun (Sears item# 80421)
Craftsman All-Purpose, Superior Bonding, .44" round glue sticks (Sears item# 8045
4

and added glue where it was neccessary. I felt that the heat from outdoor parking would require a more "heavy duty/high melt point" glue.
