You're correct, I was thinking of Bimmian, I just bought a 2002 4.6is non-nav and was pretty much sold on the Hualingan unit. But I think I'll wait until I find more info on this particular unit. | BMW Headunit Upgrade | Navigation retrofit | e46 | e53 x5 | E39 | E38 |

My AVIC F90BT runs off Windows CE, is fairly quick (since I hacked it) with button pushes, etc. Plays DVD's fine, but it terribly slow and sometimes even choppy when playing videos from the SD card. I'll definately be looking at one of these for the 7 since the ads appear to include OBC functions within the deck, which is what I'd love when doing a bezel like that, at least in the 7. For the X, I just relocated the OBC to the glovebox since I had to run the decks male & female USB and iPod connections there anyways. The OBC is 5 wires, quick and easy.

Finally found the time to install the Hualingan. I'm not finished yet. I haven't installed the metal plates with screws to secure the hualingan. I'm not sure where to drill. Also the unit seem to be mis aligned at the bottom part. Maybe I need to shave the upper part some more.
![]() ![]() Any suggestions on how I can align the bottom part? Also there's this "Warning! Do not watch to master!" text that appears every now and then and prevents you from viewing the DVD movie or other screens. You need to reset to factory setting to get rid of it! WTF? How do I get rid of it without doing a factory reset? ![]() ![]() I also can't get the GPS to work. I can't seem to pass this stage... ![]() Any of you lucky enough to make the gps work? Help please ![]() I also have no idea where to connect the loose wires: orange for illumination, pink for brake (whatever that means) and a purple wire (which I forgot what the label was). There is also this earphone connector beside the iPod connector which I'm trying to figure out what it is for. I tried plugging in another iPod on it but it wouldn't work as an AUX IN! what is it for?!? AUX in in front panel is working so what is the one at the back?!? On the otherhand: iPod interface is great. There's a little trick to display the other playlists, artist, song etc. choices. I'm happy with this! Bluetooth phone connection worked well with my Blackberry storm 2. DVD movie quality is great. USB music and access is great and Sound quality is superb. Still need to connect my backup camera, video in II for my other video player, gps antenna routing and mounting. Will do all of that tomorrow. I'm tired

It seems like this unit is a bit different the the first units that came out. I got iGo as a GPS software on mine. You should be able to find one on the net or do your homework and see if you can get your Garmin working. It looks like the other option is to purchase a license key for it
. Did you asked when you bought it for the right mapping software or maps? The brake wire should be connected to +12 or ground, it's different than mine. I didn't have to connect it but I guess they did implement it properly this time. You should be able to watch dvd when driving . It should be connected to the hand brake that you can watch DVD only when the handbrake is active. For the fitting, you should shave the upper part a little more. The bottom part didn't go all the way in in your case. |

Hualingan is abit different from the Dynavin. May be it's a little bigger than Dynavin since the screen is 7" comparign to 6.2" of Dynavin. Dynavin is perfectly fit into the OEM "hole"
Look at your photos, it seems like you don't have more space on the top. If you still have more space on the top, pushing it up a bit and using some black plastic nuts to insert from the bottom. For message: "Warning! Do not watch to master!" don't WTF that early, you should connect the wire with "break" or "parking" to ground wire of the harness. You have to do this because once you connect break/parking wire the gound wire, the system will recognize that your truck is not moving but parking. They made this for your own safety warning massage. GPS is not working? I am not sure you are in SE. Asia. checking the GPS antenna cable and location where you install it.

GPS still not working
So far these are the ones working on the unit: 1. DVD is playing ![]() 2. AUX-In Video works (plugged in my 2nd DVD Player located at the back seat area) ![]() 3. USB - stored music works ![]() 4. iPod interface is great but a little slow. But still great because you can access everything in the iPod. ![]() 5. Radio works both FM and AM ![]() 6. TV works - so far I viewed my favorite channels already. A little snowy but I'm sure it's the location. ![]() These are NOT working as they should: 1. GPS - can't get it to work. It's looking for a Garmin GPS and stalls. ![]() 2. Bluetooth (Phone) - I can call, I can pair my iphone 3GS and Blackberry Storm 2, but the person on the other end cannot hear my voice! Maybe the MIC is not functioning or there is a setting I haven't discovered. ![]() Scale of 1-10 Happiness level on the Hualingan? 7 as of the moment. If the GPS and Bluetooth will be solved, it will be a 9. I will reserve the reason why I'm not giving it a 10 When I get my Christmas Bonus, I'm gonna try the Dynavin just to compare ![]() @fmugur - Can you take a picture of it? I asked them for an aux mic input a while back when I gave them my feedback. They might have implemented that. They told me that the BT is better on the new units. Can you try that to connect an external mic if you have one or use the iPod to output on it and make a phone call using the BT and see if the other end hears the iPod playing. Ok thank you all. No need to take a picture , it simply looks like the female of an earphone jack. AND It's not an AUX MIC input. I plugged in a MIC and it DID NOT work. Unfortunately the MIC on the front panel ALSO DID NOT WORK I can call and hear the person on the other line clearly but I CANNOT BE HEARD Although if I send touchtones / DTMF - it can be heard on the other end of the line better study morse code to be able to use this. The support guy I talked to said it was an AUDIO AUX IN but I doubt that ofcourse because I tried plugging in an iPod and had no sound at all. I plugged my other audio device through the RCA AUX INs at the back and it worked.@CKMCardesign - Thanks but what is a Can bus converter? @StartX5 - For message: "Warning! Do not watch to master!" don't WTF that early, you should connect the wire with "break" or "parking" to ground wire of the harness. You have to do this because once you connect break/parking wire the gound wire, the system will recognize that your truck is not moving but parking. They made this for your own safety warning massage. Thanks. Apparently I have to ground the brown wire on the harness that says 'BRAKE". It's supposed to prevent the "Warning..." from appearing. I did not connect it and it hasn't appeared since hours ago. Maybe I'm lucky. Last edited by fullmetaljacket; 10-09-2010 at 06:05 AM. |
