Well, I currently only drive the X about 10 miles a day, but when it changes over to 110 miles a day I plan on driving the wheels off that E36... The master tech that lives right by where I'm moving to has over 400k miles on his 1981 E12 528i and it will be his daily driver as long as it holds together... The E36 will cost almost nothing for me to maintain as all I pay is my cost on parts, and it is lots more simplistic than the E53. I'll still use the X5 after work and on the weekends so it will get at least the same mileage per week as currently, but all highway vs all city so it will be better for her anyways. And if I sell it a couple years from now it will be to put a few extra grand in the bank over the cost of the F250, and lower my insurance costs etc. I'm simplifying my life a bit with this move.

But as c4racer suggested, it will be a decision of adding a $500 198_ F250 or replacing with a $10,000 200_ F250... I already have those exact options now from 2 different friends, but definately not ready to get another vehicle or let go of my baby.

I racked up 10,000 miles within 6 months. Just love driving that monster. I'm also gonna bankrupt due to the gas issues!

My E90 sees about 30K a year, the E53 sees more like 22K.

The hour long commute is ending soon, and my E90 is because of trips and "mental health drives" since I have no commute (walk everywhere)

Our X sees about 16,000 miles per year. My e36 sees about 25,000+/- on average. The X is a 2002 4.4i with 120,000 miles and my 1994 325i has 320,000...and the wheels are starting to fall off.

I bought it in 2002 slightly used with 100,000 miles. Things are starting to fall apart, but not the engine. It still runs strong and smooth even though I beat on it every day. Multiple redlines at minimum per day for over 8 years and I haven't done any internal engine work at all. I just give it fresh Pennzoil 20w-50 and a Mann filter every 3-5k. That is why when I replace it in the near future, it will be with another N/A 6 cylinder three series. My last car was an e30 325e and it also had over 300k when I sold it. I love our X, but when I think of BMW, I think of a three series with 6 cylinders.

E36 and older BMW's.... drive them till the wheels fall off, put them back on with new bearings, repeat.
