Paint damage on hood
Not sure if its brake fluid? the spots are slightly raised but would not come out at all. Even the little fine spots cannot be removed. |

Brake fluid will strip paint to metal so unlikely the spot will be raised. Did you try a dab of acetone in soft cloth/micro-fiber (try with the tinniest spot first)?

Looks like the stuff they use to seal the asphalt. Drive through any construction zones lately where they were sealing?

what color of your truck? Silver? it looks dirty to me. I don't think sanding it is the best solution to remove the spots. Go to Sears and buy a small buffing machine and compound, try to buffing it.

Not super expert, but I wouldn't buff that hood with machine since you'll get whatever that material is in the pad (foam or wool) and scratch the heck out of the hood more. That's why before buffing people wash the car with dawn and clay-bar until free of all contaminant.

My truck hood was not that bad but it was with paint (I think some one was intentionally or unintentionally pouring on the hood and left fender) i clean it first by tower and D40. After that i puffed it and everything looks normal.
I recommend you should use tower and clean it before buffing, well i think you should know what it should be done first. Again, the X hood looks so dirty to me and it should be cleaned out before buffing or applying any pro. process to remove all spots. Believe it or not but that's what i have done for my truck's hood last winter.

i do recall driving by a stretch of road where they were doing some concrete on the sidewalk. Man, this is bothering me.
I washed the hood yesterday and it would not come off at all. I will try the acetone suggestion. |

Towel.. ha. ! ok.. whats on my hood is black and is in spots and would not come off. I found some also on my right mirror... and to the left of the rear license plate. There is 1 spot also on my gas tank cover.. I tried digging a spot with my fingernail.. and its not comming off.. It seems to be fused with the paint.. I also noticed some white paint like spots on my rear tailight... and i noticed that my neighbor frerilized his lawn.. I am parked inches from his lawn. and I am not sure if whatever he sprayed on his grass got to the paint. |
