hmmm... another case of the notorious tranny slam?

Novice driver creeping into parking, tranny slams into first and X lurches forward, the novice tramps on the gas instead of the brake... instant hole in wall.

That X5 still looks good after going through a 1 foot thick wall.

X5's are tanks!

If you look closely you can see both the driver and passenger front airbags deployed. They just partially deflated and are sagging a bit.

That lack of damage is pretty impressive. The wall was rebar reinforced.

Thats actually a feature believe it or not. When you get into an serious accident (like airbags deploying etc.) the car will automatically activate the hazards.

Watch this till the end and you can see the hazards activate automatically. Pretty cool feature IMO.

He/She is lucky that they crashed on the first level, imagine if they crashed through the side of the building on an upper level

I'm betting the person was parked, pulled BACK on the gear selector thinking it was going into REVERSE, looked backwards and hit the gas...before s/he knew it they became front page news.

It's the oddest thing to have to push the gear selector FORWARD to go to reverse. I don't get why BMW designed it like this.
