Just changed @ 78K miles from 2004 4.4 and it looks filthy... Next time it'll be around 30k.

mine is 2002 4.4i 82000 mi with the original one i belive so i thing is the time to be change?

It'll still work but will obviously put more stress on the fuel pump... Way cheaper to replace the filter at this time.
