I'd hate to be the elephant standing in the corner......but after trying diamaris, advans, and ST, I'm planning to run with a tire I just LOVE on the M which is PS2s. Love them in the dry and rain. The only issue I seeing is rubber per $$$ and while SUV tires on average have 10/32 tread on them new, the PS2 is 8/32. It's a great tire though....

Actually I am glad it is here, otherwise I would not have seen it. I am considering the same tire for my next set on the 4.6is stock rims.

They said they install mostly Toyo Proxes STIIs and that no X5 owners has ever complained about them.

I went ahead and ordered Vreds (@perfomaceplus) to see what they're like. Maybe next time we'll have enough feedback to go by. I do want to try the DWS sooner or later.

Another factor, but not that big for me, is the Vreds cost less than the DWS. $189 vs $242. This shop didn't have any problems finding the fronts - though they wanted $260 for them. Its okay to pay more if you're going to get more treadwear or more perfomance.

One universal thing (no matter the brand) that the shop spoke of, and I can confirm with my personal experience, is that the wear ratio for the X is 2 to 1. Meaning you'll go through 2 sets of rears for each set of fronts.

Maybe after the rear vreds wear out, expecting about 10-15K (closer to 10K), I'll try a set of DWS in the rear and see how that goes.

Keep us updated!

They grip just as well as the Advan s/t, Proxes, and Diamaris. Where they lose out is initial turn in and transient response. Where they win is in wear resistance, ride comfort, and noise level. Not to mention they kick ass in the wet. Even with Dinan camber plates, they dont turn in as well as the aforementioned tires. Oh well...I guess I'll just have to work a bit harder entering the corners.

Well, doesn't seem to be too bad. I already have the Vreds and will see after this set (or two in the case of the rears). I don't mind giving them a go. Thanks for the feedback.

Keep in touch. I've got 2000mi or so on my DWS's, hopefully they'll outlast the 30k I got out of the S/Ts (they were down to the cords).

Wow! I only got about 15K per set of rears on my Yokos.

You getting bad inside wear? Check your rear toe settings and dial out a bit of rear camber. Your tires will thank you. As for my fronts, I was wearing the outside of my left front (long corkscrew onramp on the way to work) so I got camber plates to help. Otherwise I can easily get 30k out of a set while driving the bajeesus out of my 4.6is.

Nope, no bad inside wear. I just didn't go down to the cords. I replace them when they're unsafe - as in, couldn't go 60mph in normal rain w/o losing traction (just driving straight).

I have all my camber backed out already.

To be honest, the cords showed at 30. I should have changed them at 25 before they started showing.

I have close to that on mine, and they have plenty of tread. I'd say they will make it to 20K. Fronts should go to 25K. I don't see the 2:1 front to rear wear happening on my 4.6is. Maybe 3:2 or 4:3.
